Motivation and when there’s none – git r done!

Two weeks ago I was committed to going to the gym multiple times weekly. I was high on running and excited for every opportunity. Now for the second week in a row I have missed my weekend run and will end up running my 10k tomorrow (Monday) to “catch-up”. What happened?

I’m committed to this. So don’t get me wrong here. I can give all sorts of excuses and reasons why I didn’t make it this week, but excuses are… well, they’re dumb.

So I’m going tomorrow, and I’ll probably use the time (50min) to reflect on how this type of motivational low happens. I get all pumped for a project or adventure or task and then find that once I get past the exciting phase and progress becomes slower and more deliberate I tend to slow down. In truth I’ve been in this place before and I’m not batting 1.000.

But here’s the difference: I’m just going to do it anyway. I’ve got a lot of projects happening in my life right now and I’m going to learn the focus it takes to get it done.
