Week 5 (but really 4) – Monday – 530pm

Distance: 6.25m (10km)
Time: 51:45

I rushed out to the gym when I got home to gen my 10k in (one day late). A little bird told me that I should put the treadmill up at an incline to make it as difficult as I were outdoors so I put it to a 1.0 incline. I figured 1.0 was just a tiny bit so it’d be no problem. After all, I think 1.0 is 1.0 degrees so I’m only 1/90th of running straight up.

I got wrecked pretty quickly.

As I was rounding my fourth minute I toned it back down to 0.0 incline (and slowed down a touch) and wowza that was much easier. I’ll have to work up to the incline while keeping up my 7.5mph (especially seeing as how I want to further increase speed, incline, and distance!).

Week 4 – Sunday – … ugh

I had my bag ready, boots on, ready to head out to watch the BUF/MIA game at the gym while I run my 10k and then I remembered that it closes at 5pm on Sundays. Sigh.

In happy news, aoeu.ca is now number #18 in google. SEO pays off, I guess.

New RSS feed and fancy SEO!

Michael’s most recent post was the first one I saw via the new fangled RSS feed. I also went and applied some SEO magic and it must have worked because in one day we went from number #20 to #19 when you search for ‘aoeu’ in google.

almost a week without posting!

Not a bad week, not a good week.

Spent a lot of time on the squash court, so much that my shoulder hurts.  I’m going to try my best to get to the gym today and spend an hour doing some cardio.  I’ve lost some weight, but would like to lose more.  I went to my office Holiday party last night, and could barely fit into my suit!

I went to a party last night and was talking to a friend who runs a gym.  She said that hip flexor stretching would help my posture and how my hips would feel when I exercised.  She said that tight hip flexors are a common issue among the desk sitting portion of the work world and that it has a profound impact on how my back feels.

Diet this weekend was OK, I consumed a lot but definitely in moderation given the season.

On another note, I went to a Neil Young concert on Friday night.  It was incredible.

Week 4 – Monday – 530pm

30 min interval training
2.0 incline
5 min wup at 5.5mph
3min 10mph
4min 5mph
3min 8mph
3min 5mph
3min 8mph
4min 5mph
3min 8mph
2min 5mph

I was a dummy and ran 10mph on my first interval and it killed me. I would have rather run 4 minute intervals… The incline and a not-so-wonderful diet made this a tiring but not very fufilling workout.

Week 3 – Thursday – 10pm

Distance: 6.25m (10km)
Time: 50:11

I almost didn’t go on Thursday. It was so late and I knew that I had to get to bed for a Friday/Saturday/Sunday conference but when I read your post I got determined and went. It was my 2nd 10k run and was very tough. I don’t usually work out on Thursday so I was recovering from Ultimate on Wednesday (we won, w00t) and had a big piece of cake in the evening which didn’t help during the run. My pace was better at 7.5mph but I still want to take it further (up to 9mph) so there’s lots of work to do. I’ll be at the gym doing rowing or interval training today or tomorrow evening. Wtg on all the successes.
