Week 10 – Saturday – 1030am

Distance: 10.48km
Time: 60:20

I was pretty excited for this run: I wanted to have 2 days of “best-ever”s. Friday’s run was my best ever 10km time and yesterday I wanted to run further than I ever had. I think I would’ve been ok to make it, but I got stopped by the treadmill. I guess after an hour they’re programmed to wrap things up. So I ended up with a shorter run. Looking back I guess I could’ve just hopped onto another treadmill or something but when I’ve been running for an hour my brain isn’t really able to focus on more than one thing.

So this pretty much means I’ll be running outside for my longer runs, which presents an problem given how cold its been lately. I know that people run when it’s cold and all, and I was surprised at how -5 wasn’t that big a deal, but -20 (like it’s been here for the last week) is more than I care to hazard. As my long run is going to be on the weekends, I’ll run my long run outdoors if it’s warm enough, otherwise I’ll just do whatever I can do in 1 hour at the gym. Can -20 really last that long, anyway? What happened to global warming?

The countdown timer I threw together is popping out to me whenever I hit the site (and not just when it incorrectly gets rendered at the bottom of sidebar instead of the top. Grrr!). We’re now less than 100 days to the race. Going from 101 days to 99 days mentally seems like more than 2 days. Now as every day ticks past I can feel the race getting closer.
