In Kingston this weekend, and I was reminded how great it is to live in such an incredible country. I mapped out a 15km route on gmaps but I only roughly knew the area so I spent a bit of time backtracking looking for paths. In one case what looked like a path from satellite view was in fact some train tracks (not a hazard I wish to take regularly). Then once I got to the waterfront rather than following the road (as planned) I started following whatever trail I could find. My 15km turned into (almost) 16.5km. I think this was the most beautiful run I’ve ever taken. The water on my right, running through parks… very nice indeed.

I went out thinking I’d run 6km, but then fear of the big day (see below) pushed it up to 10. The route I took also included a walk through the Tim’s line-up to get my bagel/coffee, and then I ran the last 1/2 km with those in my hand. Does that count for extra?
Not that I’m actually really for real concerned, but with the big day approaching I’m starting to feel a bit of pressure. I haven’t run more than 12km in a few weeks and now I’ve only got about a week and a half of real training (the last week I’ll probably just go for a couple short runs). I want to go for a 17km on Friday, and then next week bump it up to 20km, and then ride the last week before the race with a couple of morning 6’s.

Wowie! Yesterday was a beautiful run. It was the first time I’ve been out without long sleeves on. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. The grass was green… And this morning it’s snowing and raining and cold and windy! I actually got dressed to go running but I’m afraid no running took place. Somewhere between the door and the car my motivation left me.
I’m really starting to feel the pressure of the big day approaching. I only have two more weekends to get long runs in (and this weekend I’ll be traveling). Like Michael, I feel pretty confident I’ll be able to finish, it’s just a matter of what pace that will be. I hope to have a long run (17-ish) once this week (maybe in Kingston this weekend) and then I want to break 20km next week some time and then it’s just short runs until race day.

Wahoo. Three days this week feels great. Maybe I’ll even be able to get a run in this weekend in between the Raptors, TFC, and Habs games tomorrow.
The three week mark is fast approaching. I’ll need to be sure to be upping my weekly milage until the big day.

A nice pace this morning. I wasn’t feeling to great but I need to be heading out to get my milage up. 24 days left!

My first post-ultimate run. Nothing too special about it except that it just felt natural to head out to the gym. Hopefully that sticks. Thursday was hockey, and Sunday I went out for pick-up ultimate. There was only one other person but we practiced some high-winds throwing and he showed me a drill. Pretty good stuff.
Posted in exerciseUltimate wrapped up tonight. I am now 100% a runner… except for shinney tomorrow. Then I’m really really a 100% runner (except for pick-up ultimate on Sunday).
Hmmm…

Nice and easy this week as ultimate wraps up. The real ramp-up to the big day starts on the weekend.
Posted in exerciseWoke up Sunday feeling pretty good. I went out and played 10 holes of disc golf. After a health humous and pita lunch I went to the gym to watch basketball and run.
Sadly, the gym didn’t have any TVs showing NCAA basketball, so I was stuck watching country music videos with the sound off. I ran a quick 3.5 miles then headed for home.
I’m feeling pretty good these days. I’m not running any faster, but I’ve lost some weight and long distances no longer scare me like they once did. Tonight I’ll run about 10km. Tomorrow will be an off day because we’re starting pre-natal classes.
